I have the honor to report to Your Lordship that on the 29th February last, I
Assistant Harbour Master, to proceed to the Straits Settlements for the benefit of his health which has been of late very much impaired,
as attested by the Colonial Surgeon's certificate, herewith enclosed.
Mr. Long returned to the Colony on the 17th April, but as he only exceeded,
the period allowed by the Colonial Regulations by six days, and his absence ill health the Government having been put to no
expense thereby,
